made with some buttery love

That Paula Deen most definitely knows what she's talking about. Her sour cream muffin recipe is hands down one of my favorites. It screams delicious buttery-ness. I love mine with some strawberry jam or next to a bowl of chili. And it's just the easiest thing to make I promise.

Here's the recipe:
2 cups self-rising flour
2 sticks melted butter (oh yeah these are by the way not diet friendly)
1/2 pint of sour cream (use lite...you know got to keep it healthy)

Mix together & bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes in a muffin tin. No need to grease up the pan before hand and I as a side note I usually cut this recipe in half if it's just boy and I. We don't want a butter overdose.

Oh, and I'm twittering. My updates are on the left hand side. Thanks for the encouragement...I'm feeling very hip now!

lame

So I'm kind of figuring out I'm lame in my 20's.

When a 50 year old at church asks you if you have a facebook page and you have to reply no...that makes you very uncool.

This blog is my snail start into the communication realm of the 21st century. But, I've noticed this fancy twittering thing going on on some blogs and how fun is that! Maybe I need to step up my game and get on board with it before my 90 year old grandma beats me to it.

Does anyone twitter?

miss undomestic

The other day I sat down to lunch and while flipping through the channels stumbled upon The Martha Stewart show. That woman has skills. Her craftiness is so over my head, but it's still fun to dream that maybe somewhere deep down in me I have the ability to carve a rotating pumpkin carousel with loads of glitter.

My odds of winning the lottery are better.

As I'm munching on my PB&J I cannot turn away. This show sucks you in I tell you. I also think this might have been the episode where Snoop Dog (is my spelling right on that) was the guest. Which friends that was a real treat because Snoop Dog shared some grammar and parenting tips with everyone. I'm going to have be sure to journal those words of wisdom and refer back to them when we decide to join the parenthood club. I can then tell everyone that we are parenting with the Snoop method.

But I became fascinated watching Martha polish these drop dead gorgeous apples and place them in a bowl for a table decoration. I'm thinking this is Megan doable and not only will we be become much healthier with our apples, but we will be left with a very Martha Stewarty looking display that will surely gather up some oohs and aahs.

Tada! Just don't look too close because my apples that I bought from a big bag looked like they were drop kicked. I don't think Martha would approve of my drop kicked apple display.

I think it gives it a bit of character though.

a rather long post

Okay so I kind of fell of the blog bandwagon for a week. It's been a couple of crazy days and today friends it has seriously felt like Tuesday and yesterday felt like Monday. So I'm really off this week.

This morning after running errands I stopped off at the grocery store (nothing more thrilling than the grocery store-ha) and witnessed a lady drop a HUGE bag of dog food that spilled everywhere. My heart broke for this lady that was so embarrassed because there is seriously a lot of kibble in those bags and for a second we all feared we would be swimming in it's foulness. Pug was disappointed he missed it.

Okay blogging friends pull out your recipe books I need some of your brilliant culinary assistance. We have some dear and precious friends that have the sweetest little 3 year old you ever did meet. That sweet little one is recovering in the hospital from brain surgery (the Lord is really putting His healing hands upon him). Here's my dilemma I'm trying to load them up to be good on meals for a while and have exhausted my cookbooks. I've got a great Italian dish that is usually my go to on bringing a family a meal, but I'm struggling to find others that are freezer friendly and most importantly kid friendly. That's the kicker. If you don't mind sharing your go to meal I'd be ever so grateful. You can post it in a comment or feel free to e-mail me aboyagirlandapug [at] gmail [dot] com. Thanks friends!

Also, Whitney (who I just found out loves "Lipstick Jungle" too!!) so graciously honored me with the cutest bloggy award.

I'm so going to start walking pug in my stilettos!!

Anyway, the rules are that I have to share 5 of my addictions and pass this fabulous award onto 5 bloggy friends. So here goes...

5 Addictions:
1. Falling asleep to the t.v. on. (I accidentally left on a scary Lifetime movie that freaked my dreams out last night-not a good idea)
2. Dr. Pepper in a Styrofoam cup w/ straw- preferably Happy Hour from Sonic
3. My hubby- he's my BFF!
4. Gum- I love to chew gum!
5. "The Office"- it doesn't get any funnier.

I'm passing this award onto 5 bloggy friends (I hate picking just 5): UPDATE: forgive me my links button on blogger is acting up. You'll have to remove my url to get it working...sorry.
1. Heather @ Life as we know it- she has 3 of the cutest kiddos I've ever seen and always has some wonderful inspiration to share. I adore her blog!
2. Marie @ Flip Flops of Lexington- she's actually my cousin who recently moved from California to New York City. She's a brilliant writer and I love reading of her exciting city life adventures.
3. Heather @ Life at Sonic Speed- anyone who has a Sonic cup picture on their blog is a great friend of mine. I love reading her blog... oh and she has just been blessed with baby #2 on the way.
4. Page @ My Life- besides being so sweet she's got too of the cutest pugs you ever did see. It's so fun to get to read of other people's pug stories!
5. Erin @ My Own Little Corner- I love reading her blog...she has some great stories of her pug too. Her pug seems much calmer though. She also is super talented in the cake decorating.

UPDATE: forgive me my links button on blogger is acting up. You'll have to remove my url to get it working...sorry.

a random list of thoughts

guess what it's a list...cause I'm on thought overload. so join me as I de-clutter.

1. I single handily ruined my entry way with a paint brush this weekend. Shield your eyes it's terrible.

I was trying to "touch-up" some spots and after googling the appropriate way to go about doing this...I still ruined it. So I ate a carb to subside the pain from my polka dotted walls. It worked. I will now hire out all HGTV inspired projects.

2. My blogger is acting up not letting me view other blogs...is this just me?

3. I have a new favorite scripture..."The Lord will fight for you; you only need to be still" Exodus 14:14. It's so perfect and don't you love when you find that great scripture that sort of sums up where you are in life at that moment. So I'm learning to be still.

4. I'm ready for Thanksgiving. As I get older this Holiday has brought on so much more meaning. I'm craving the smell of a turkey in the oven and the taste of mom's mashed potatoes. Yummy.

5. This is my first season to watch The Biggest Loser and I haven't had a dry eye on a Tuesday night since. I now get the fuss!!

the original pet

Meet "the original" pet Sammy Moses.

Sammy because it was cool at the time.

And Moses...well he's just the coolest Old Testament guy. He parted the sea for crying out loud! So that's where the middle name came from. Oh, and Gwyneth totally must me my BFF now because she took that name from my cat.

So, I went off to college, got married and although I do love that cat I realized I could not afford his lifestyle he'd grown accustomed to. Somewhere amongst that boy bought me pug and I went from dainty cat to obnoxiously noisy dog. I cried that day I realized that pug doesn't just SIT.

Sammy's as loyal and sweet as they come. He's 17 in cat years, lived in 3 different states with us and even stayed a night at The Palmer House in Chicago. He's been a busy feline and is now enjoying the retired life with my parent's who spoil him rotten.

So now when I combine the two pets I have my own real life Milo & Otis. Only if Otis would quit molesting Milo and somehow refrain from eating his food.

I'd love to hear about your childhood pets...do tell!

Paper or Plastic

First, I have to tell y'all quickly I'm a huge fan of Homemade Gourmet. They have some of the best dips and bread mixes out there! I recently came across Jennifer's Homemade Gourmet blog and saw the cutest thing ever.

How perfect and adorable is that for Holiday parties? The base holds ice to keep the dip that sits on top fresh and cool. Being the sweet daughter that I am I gave it to my mom and she squealed in delight at it's cuteness. I'm going to have to get me one now!

Hooray for Election Day!! As you can see from the previous post pug is rather excited for election day and I was tempted to title the post "please go vote if for no other reason than the fact it took me a long time to pose my pug for this picture". And yes that a treat he's eyeballing and sorry the lighting is so gag worthy too.

Hope you all got a chance to vote already...if not hurry!! We went this morning excited to try out those new fancy smancy electronic voting systems. Once we found the correct area to go we headed over to our alphabetized section, signed in and then were directed to another table. I walked up and the lady behind the table goes,

"Paper or Plastic?"

"Um, sorry?"

"Oh I meant paper or electronic"

"Oh well electronic then"

"Well we only have one and the line's too long"

"How about paper then...I'll kick it old school one more time".

And that was voting 2008 now we're off to an election party!!
