barnes & nibbler

Directions for giving your books a well-worn-gnawed-up look:

Find a pug, make sure a book is out of reach and proceed to turn your back for 30 seconds.

This is also why we are NOT card carrying members of our local library :-)

boocoos

boocoos: meaning many; much.

I think boocoos might be one of my favorite words. I use it a lot to say "Wow, you have boocoos of shoes in your closet" or "Pitt/Jolie have boocoos of children".

See, it's a very useful word.

And imagine a southern drawl spun on it.

Unfortunately, this is boy's least favorite word.

He wasn't even convinced it was a real word and thought it sounded a little too country. This coming from a Texan who says yell-A instead of yell-O. But I'd continue to say it and he'd continue to tell me not too until one day I pulled it up on an online dictionary to prove my point.

Now boy can admit I'm right boocoos of times in our marriage.

oogly googly

If you do not have Google Analytics hooked up to your blog...please do. It does lots of fancy stuff like track what country people visit your blog from yada yada, but the feature that I most enjoy is it shows the keywords people have searched to land on your blog.

It's pure entertainment folks.

Every so often I remember I have it and log in to get a laugh or two. I thought today I would share my most recent finds.

1. "Where is Suzanne Whang?" - it's coming from this random post I did sometime back, but I am very relieved to know that other people are just as concerned about the well being of HGTV's House Hunters as myself. People searching this please fill me in if you find an answer.

2. "Addicted to Sonic Tea"- I feel for you. That Sonic is very powerful stuff and I hope you find a support group to help you through those "Happy Hours".

3. "Does Sonic Happy Hour include banana splits?"- I don't know...not much of a banana split fan...but do I really talk about Sonic that much?

4. "How to tell if my pug is a boy or a girl?" I can't even begin to tell you how often this one pops up. First pick it up, turn it over...if it has a wee wee congratulations you've got a boy!

5. "Pug bad hair day"- I guess pug is fortunate to not have this problem, but maybe try a hat.

6. "Pug Botox"- REALLY? Please don't...the wrinkles are what make them so stinkin' cute.

And that concludes a few of the googles.

**UPDATE**: A few of you have asked about setting it up. I know it's kind of tricky (and this is just for blogger) so I hope this helps...once you create an account with google analytics you'll see a long funky looking "tracking code" that you need to copy.
Once you do that-
1. Go to the dashboard on your blogger page and click "Layout"
2. Under "Layout" click "Edit HTML"
3. Scroll all the way to the bottom of all that html coding and at the very end you'll see < / body >
4. Paste the "tracking code" right above < / body > and click "save".

miscellaneous bin

1. I baked up some of these delicious Pink Lemonade cupcakes yesterday...and they were the perfect summer treat!

2. I've been a lazy blogger this week. Just nothing exciting going on.

3. Can I tell y'all again how much I love Big Brother? Who are you cheering for? I really like Casey, Jeff, Jordan and Laura.

4. I finished this book and loved it. Such a great read. I'd say it's been one of my favorites that I've read so far this year.

5. And hello cute clothing company...where did you come from? I'll take one of each in my dreams of you.

a momentous day

Today marks a momentous occasion for me friends.

I ordered toilet paper off the internet. And today it came.

You can applaud if you wish. I did.

I'm envisioning many years from now sitting on my front porch surrounded by my grandchildren sharing with them the first time grandma ordered toilet paper off the internet. And they will ask how did you even get toilet paper before that and I will tell them how I walked the aisles of Wal-Mart many times battling the crowds and rude people just for a pack of Charmin's finest. And they will gasp in horror and wonder how we ever managed.

Okay so maybe not.

I'm not gaining anything from this post just thought I'd share because I was so giddy to see this website on another blog and maybe you'll find this awesome too. It was free shipping and they automatically add the current coupons in so for some of the items I usually buy generic I found it was cheaper buying name brand here. Some items I'll keep buying in the store, but hey to save a few bucks this cheapo is thrilled.

I think I could do a whole other post on how cheap I am.

book shopping

I dream of living in a small town with a quaint little bookstore. You know something like The Shop Around the Corner in "You've Got Mail". Oh, tell me what it's like if you've got one of these in your town!!

But for now my book buying skips around between Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books.

The other evening I ventured out to Half Price with a rather well organized list. I was determined to walk away with a stack of great reads. Now don't get me wrong, I love Half Price books, I just have about as much luck with finding the good stuff in there like do at TJ Maxx. I have bad TJ Maxx luck. I'm so envious of friends that can walk in and out of these stores with great finds. What's the deal there?

Here's what I walked away with- not much of a stack.

In fact I only found 1 out of 12. Oh well can't wait to start it. Anyone read this yet or better yet what are you reading?

I don't think his mama would be very proud

I love getting snail mail. Not the bills, but the fun catalogs and occasional letters from friends. I hope I never live to see the day when mail becomes totally electronic. I will be heartbroken.

So, this afternoon I run out to the mailbox and what do you know friends, but there's very little remaining of my wrought iron mailbox because it appears someone hit it. Thankfully, boy was home so I run in and grab him and as we're investigating our little hit and run a construction worker that witnessed it hollered over that it was that pest control truck parked a block down.

I can't even begin to tell you how thankful we were that that man witnessed it and that truck was still there, because some serious dollar signs were floating around my head.

So, boy walked down the block and the man rudely told him he was planning on coming back (yeah right you were). He wrote down his license plate and phone number on the truck. I decided to go ahead and call the company thinking it was more than a one man operation and let them know the situation so hopefully they could make sure that guy does return.

Now there are two things I don't stomach well and that's running from situations and a southern man that doesn't act very gentlemanly towards a woman.

Oh no sir that don't fly. I don't expect doors to be opened for me, but show a little respect in your words to me.

I call the number and politely explain we had one of your trucks hit our mailbox, take off and I'd like to discuss what we can do to make this right. Well this man pretended to be a secretary and not who he was which was the actual owner that hit the mailbox (I caught on pretty quickly- I don't think he knows just how much CSI I watch). Before I know it I'm getting an ear full and some yelling back because he'll be late for his next appointment and he already said he'd be there. I was so stunned and speechless because "dude you hit MY mailbox". I'd rather be catching up on my ironing and "Army Wives" then chatting with you. On a side note, I kind of wish I would have recorded his "kind" words because I'd surely send it to his mama. Maybe his mama could knock some politeness into him.

Then boy comes into the room and I tell him I just got yelled at and I might cry. He's not super pleased there's been a man yelling at his wife, but let me tell you boy handles these situations with some serious grace from God and 30 minutes later when the man comes back walks out there with all the kindness in the world. Sadly, it was not reciprocated and that man is firey mad that he got a call from me and is shouting at boy. I'm now very confused because once again "dude you hit MY mailbox". Well, friends the power of kindness proved victory and before long that man was apologizing and my mailbox is standing up straight again.

It breaks my heart to witness moments like these, especially when you're on the receiving end of the hurtful words. But let me tell you how greatful I am for my southern gentleman and his example because I probably would have just turned the front yard hose on him and then made him come in and iron my blouses.

nevermind

So, I posted this picture earlier with the title {proclaimed he is not a fan of the song "stand by me"} And then I got two phone calls from family members saying "I don't get it". So nevermind. I was simply stating pug doesn't like the song "stand by me". He barks at it.

Now I'm blog title self-conscious.
I'm going to make them start titling my posts.

show me the funny

So, I was thinking the other day how great the whole internet is because it's full of so many funny blogs and sites. I thought it would be fun to share a few of some of my favorites that I hit up for some laughter and I'm hoping you can share with me some I haven't heard of.

1. mylifeisaverage.com- so funny!
2. postcardsfromyomomma.com- one of my favorites...start with the "best of"
3. cakewrecks.blogspot.com - hilariously delicious!
4. ihasahotdog.com- pug's favorite...it took me a few visits before I realized you can search by breed.

Do share if you have some to add!

Happy Wednesday!

a memo to pug #4

To: Pug
From: Upper Management
RE: Exercise
Date: 7/3/09

Dearest Royalty,

Although you may think we enjoy the honorable privilege of carrying your 23 pound self home on the last leg of a 10 minute night walk, we in fact do not. I am aware that you find it tragic that the a/c does not accommodate you on these walks for your enjoyment, but I am very confident that you will manage just fine.

Sincerely,
Your A/C paying servant
