gotcha

A week before our wedding four years ago boy surprised me with pug {here's that story} as a bridal gift.

Oh how time does fly...and yesterday marked pug's gotcha day.

Or as we like to refer to it as OUR gotcha day because pug pretended to be all well-behaved and easy going at the pug farm. Ha!

We got punk'd by a dog.

But I wouldn't trade in all the "Nos", "Stop thats", chewed up dry wall, chasing down the streets, not letting me take a picture for this blog post of yous for all the well-behaved pugs in the world.

So, tell me friends, I'd love to hear how you brought home your pets? Did you adopt, search for endlessly or was it spontaneous?

we got Zoe a couple months after we got married. A friend had gotten a dog from a pet store that got sick within the first year that they had him. The pet store offered them another dog and the MIL went and picked out Zoe. My friend wanted a Big dog. 9 ounce Zoe did not fit that bill. So they knew we were *thinking* about a dog and sent her with my mom. My grandmother had just had a stroke and my mom was on her way to see us. She brought her to us in a tiny gift bag and smuggled her up to the room my grandmother was in. she was only 9 ounces and fit in the palm of my hand. She is the BEST dog in the world!

I can't believe it has been four years (and that you are celebrating a 4 yr wedding anniversary in a few days!) I was so glad I was able to come and see you and meet "boy" then.

We got our canine pride and joy 11 yrs and 12 days ago. Can't believe it has been that long. They may be a pain but we wouldn't ever trade 'em.

We got Gracie about a year after we got married. Her name is Gracie because we believed and knew God had shown us much "grace" that first year of adjusting to each other! We found her through a breeder that we found online. We had to drive 3-4 hours to get her...and picked her out of two puppies. It was SO hard to pick....I didn't want to leave the other one "alone." But we chose her and have never looked back!

we had researched fora while on what kind of dog we wanted, and then put the deposit down on dinsmore a few months before we got him. We timed it out perfectly and picked him up a week after being home from our honeymoon. he is a perfect addition.

Jameson, our chocolate lab was completely spontaneous! We had talked about getting a dog and one day we stopped at a store just to look! (I swear!!) And, we found him. We've had him for almost three years. He has fleas now :( for the first time ever in his life. My poor guy!

We got Dahlia from the San Diego Pug Rescue. I saw her picture in an email -- I'd already filled out the paperwork, done the house check and was on the list to know about available dogs -- and forwarded it to husband and said "this is the one"

Winston I had searched for for a long time...I was in college and had to save and find the right breeder. He was one of 8 puppies, but by the time I got there (three hours away) there were only three left and he was the only boy. He was also the craziest. Should have been my first clue. When I brought him home the first thing he did was run to the dining room of my apt. and poop on the wall.

After Rob and I got married I began to search for a "sibling" for Winston and found Sela on Pug Rescue of Florida's website. They said she was two years old and missing an eye. Her pic was so sweet that I applied before telling the hubby. When we went to pic her up she had horrible Demodex that took several months to clear up and the vet also informed us that she was about seven months old, not two years old! She's been torturing Winston ever since.

It's been a while, but I thought of you this morning, right after my wife and and I found our old girl Shadow had passed during the night. Eleven years old, and still yearning for belly rubs. Her breathing was labored last evening, and she's not been eating well recently, so we figured it was a matter of time. But it's still a hard morning. Give that precious one of yours a hug for us, will ya . . .

Ida Claire was so spontaneous. And I'll tell you, one day after I got her I almost gave her back because I couldn't get used to the snorting. Thankfully I did, though because I wouldn't trade her for the world!
