Hello my name is Megan and I just joined the 21st century.
We now are texting folks.
Yes, please have pity on us because we are probably the last 20 somethings to have this added to our plan. I really can't muster up an excuse for what our deal was. It wasn't the money or a hatred towards technology (I've been a tivoer for almost a decade now). I don't know maybe we were making a stand to preserve good ole' fashion communication. Nothing drives me crazier then to try a have a conversation with someone while they finish up their text (hint to the receptionist at the salon) or texting at church (what's with that?).
We caved.
It really came down to the fact that last month our bill was $20 extra in texts. Ridiculous I know. And about $10 of that was because I have one friend who only communicates with texts (no one has heard her voice in a year now) and another who insists on texting "are you up?" first before going into a message. Why would I not be up at 2 in the afternoon? Do people think I'm that lazy?
So C U L8R...LOL.
I really don't know what some people did before texting. It hasn't been around that long. Hey, let me know how you like your Beth Moore David study. I'm only 3 1/2 weeks into my Esther, but I love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the last 20 something...we haven't signed up either! We figure it's only $0.20 per text, so we'll deal. I have to say that it is a nice way to communicate something quick to a bunch of people...or else I get stuck on the phone with the "talker"....you know, that person that just won't shut up!! We may cave soon...
ReplyDeletei culd nt liv witot txtng . . . luv it!
ReplyDeletewe text because i have a teenager it cost us less this way!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you joined the texting community. I love to text, but I hate using texting abbreviations. Sorry, but I would rather it run into a second message than be impossible to read.
ReplyDeleteHa! You so aren't the last 20 something's to cave cause we haven't! As a matter of fact my hubby is practically anti cell phone! Its like pulling teeth to get him to carry his and turn it on! So alas i don't see texting in our future anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteGirl, this is so funny! This was us in November...we finally caved, too. I enjoy the convenience sometimes, but it also gets on my nerves. Last week I had lunch with a friend and she texted the WHOLE TIME!!! I think it's rude....
ReplyDeleteToo funny!!!!! I know, texting has taken over the world.... Welcome!!!! ;O)
ReplyDeleteI'm twentysomething and I don't have a text plan. I have a few of "those" friends, too...I just wanna send them a bill sometimes. Even if it's $6.80. :)
ReplyDeleteWorking with the youth at church - I had to upgrade to unlimited plans because that's the way they communicate.... LUV it!
ReplyDeleteLOL Welcome! It's a great place to be! I can't stand the abbreviations though. I will spell out just about every word before using abbreviations. My MIL uses them and sometimes I can't tell what she's trying to say. LOL
