the perks

These weeks are just flying by and every time I think of something to blog about of any utter importance something gets in the way.  Like the 100 degree heat that is literally going to be the end of me, or fueling off questions from random strangers going "are you expecting a baby?" (what gave it away) or coming to terms with the fact that Chick-fil-a no longer offers croutons with their salads.  What is the world coming to?  This one left me in a depression for a few seconds until I told the cashier "ok cancel the salad I'll have a cookie instead".

A totally even caloric trade.

Speaking of food I am definintly going to miss those pregnancy splurges.  I'm also lactose intolerant, and therefore my digestive system hates me, but there is some phenomenon in pregnancy where it can somewhat ease up on you.  It's the craziest thing and I had people tell me that before I got pregnant, but didn't believe it.  Now I haven't taken advantage of it and splurged on a cheese pizza or mac and cheese (oh how I wish), but I've found I can tolerate a few things I couldn't like a buttery croissant, not having to request no cheese on a salad or even a piece of string cheese and be good.  I'm so going to miss this.  Anyone have this happen in their pregnancy?

Also, this week I realized how much I'm going to miss this.

This pregnancy perk will be dearly missed.  I think every store should do just one spot to help a waddler out in the heat.

first father's day

Are you ready for Father's Day?  I've had Father's Day on my mind for awhile now.  This is boy's first Daddy-to-Be day and with Declan's arrival coming up just next month I really want to make it memorable and special for him.

I was recently introduced to Treat.com, which is is the same folks as Tiny Prints and Shutterfly. Treat allows you to go online and personalize a card for just about anything to your liking and even add pictures or a gift card.  Then they print it up and will ship it to you to hand out or send straight to the recipient.  I was honestly thinking this would be more along the lines of my obsessive Printshop days from the 90's, but I was so wrong.  Right away I found a whole section of Father's-to-Be cards that were adorable and actually had to narrow it down in options.  I had checked our local card stores, but found maybe one or too that were so so, so I had passed on them.  I love that they thought of everyone.  So, this might be my new go to for cards.  I know I pay more even at the grocery store for a card and with baby boy on the way adding pictures to cards is going to be a huge bonus.

This is the one I picked.  I love it!  And to have Declan's sonogram picture in it melts my heart because of course this first Father's Day card will make it into the baby book.

Also, boy's getting a little goodie bucket I put together.

It's all things for snuggling on the sofa together and watching football.  So, I included a few burp rags that I made with some leftover fabric, a plush rattle football and some snacks for daddy.  Not a whole lot, but I know my husband has been dreaming of these football days with Dec, and this will kick those memories off to a fun start!  I'm also hoping I can make it till Sunday without busting open the twizzler bag!!

And next year will be even more exciting with a baby.  I'd love to hear what your Father's Day traditions or plans are.  I'm going to have to load up on ideas for next year and would love to hear some of your favorites!

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own.  A huge thank you to treat.com for providing us with the card.

eight is great

Pug turned 8 yesterday!  We celebrated with a nap (that'd be me) and some Frosty Paws on the patio (them).

Frosty Paw time is serious business around here.  Have your dogs tried these frozen treats?  I'm pretty sure we could get pug to mow the lawn for a frosty paw.  I could hug the inventor of the frost paw.

And I'm not sure what we're looking for here.  I'm guessing someone marked their spot.

Happy Birthday, my fur-born!  We love you and all your crazy energy!

Five on Friday

Hello Friday...I'm so glad you're here!  Today I'm linking up for FIVE on Friday here.  I've loved getting to find some new blogs to read through this blog linky!

1. So, I'm not watching the Bachelorette this season.  Nope I will not cave on this one.  I just can't bring myself to endure the drama.  I have, however, found a replacement for it.  Have y'all been watching Jimmy Kimmel's The Baby Bachelor?  I'm in love.  The cuteness is too much!

2.  I woke up at 5 o'clock this morning to pee for the millionth time and then obessesed about where to order in for dinner tonight.  Dinner daydreaming...life of an 8 months preggo at her finest.  Baby and I came to a negotiation for a wich wich turkey sandwich thankfully.

3.  Speaking of food...I made a new discovery at Trader Joe's that I can't get enough of.  Their Pineapple salsa.  I don't do real spicy things and so the sweetness from the pineapple is perfect for me.  It's divine!  I'm thinking of busting out the crock pot and pouring this over some chicken breasts to cook for dinner one night.

4.  Back to baby talk...I need to start getting our hospital bags ready in the next few weeks.  I'm stumped on lounge wear for me to wear after having him.  Anyone have any recommendations of what clothing to pack?  I know it will be hot as all get out in July, but hospitals are usually pretty cold.  Would love to hear what worked for you.

5.  Hoping it cools down enough this evening to take these two on a little walk with me.  Or maybe I should say waddle.  About 10 minutes into the walk thankfully I'm not the only one panting and waddling home.

 Have a great weekend everyone!
