ruffle curtain: take 2

I got this idea in my head to do another ruffle curtain, but this time use it as a headboard on a twin bed.  And when I saw this lovely shade of gray in the sheet aisle at walmart...I could resist.  This is done with a set of queen flat sheets, rather than the twin sheet from the previous tutorial.  The finished piece will measure about 80 x 49 inches give or take.   I also went ahead and re-did my original tutorial and put it into a pdf so you can easily download it and print it off if you'd like (I just hope it works now).

 Ruffle Curtain

Enjoy and if you make one, I'd love to hear how it turned out, especially if it's in a nursery...I just think it would be so cute in a baby girl's room.

First of all, I LOVE PUGS SO MUCH. My mom and dad have two and I swear one day I will own my own little snotty snorter.
Second, love these as curtains! Once our house is done (january!!) these will absolutely be going in my daughter's room, maybe in different colors...Maybe the grey though?? Her room is lavender and blue thus far (meaning, that's the color of the quilt and sheets we've bought!) so we'll see what wal-mart sheets inspire me..
Thanks for posting this! I LOVE easy stuff. And the dogs :)

Quick question. If you started with a main body panel of 102 x 64.75 and ended up with a finished curtain size of 80 by 49, how did you loose so much length and width? I understanding hemming the bottom, sides, and the 3" rod pocket at the top, but that should only equal a loss of 1" on the width, and 5" on the length. You have lost 22" in the length and 15.75 on the width. Where does it go?

I love how you said that it would be cute in a little girl's nursery because that is exactly what I am going to do!! before seeing your blog I had the idea and even already bought the wal-mart sheets:) I was looking for some tips and tricks other than what was in my head and found your post and this will help me perfectly!! I think the only difference I will make is I purchased a black out curtain panel($10 each at WM) as the base instead of another sheet so that it will be dark when closed for a nursery. Thanks so much for posting!

I've been lookin everywhere for ruffled curtains, and they are god awful expensive! So glad I found this. I too am impatient and only know the basics as far as sewing. I'm going to try this for my little girl's room! If I don't like it I'm only out 5 bucks, which eases the pressure a little bit. We just moved in so we still have to paint etc. but when we get it done I'll be sure to send you a picture. Thanks so much for this!

We want to do this for a craft day with a bunch of ladies! (yeah) and I just want to make sure I understand this, two sheets (either twin or queen) will make 1 curtain? could you possibly make two curtains form a queen set?

Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!! I am an extreme beginner on my new sewing machine, so I'm sure I'll have to read thru the directions a few times, but that will be easy since you made them easy to print/download. =)

I teach severe special education in a middle school with lots of bookshelves that have math manipulatives, games, and educational resources on them that are interfering with learning because of students that get over stimulated easily. I decided that I am going to make curtains for the bookshelves since I don't have any cabinets that close so that I can create a better learning environment. I'm super excited for your tutorial and to get started on making these for my classroom. Thank you.
