one girl's junk is another girl's awesomeness

I've become reacquainted with a good ole' friend.

eBay.

We reunited last month when I was able to score some Seven for All Mankind jeans for 20 bucks.

Thanks eBay! I forgot how fun you can be searching for some awesome finds.

Then this past weekend I came across a box full of some old clothes that I forgot to set out when I had a donation truck swing by a few weeks ago. So, I decided to see if I could get any bites on eBay and low and beyond it's now been packed up and shipped off. I'm shocked!

So, I'm curious anyone buy or sell anything crazy on eBay? Or score any great treasures?

hunting season

Hey friends...how was everyone's weekend?

I'm loving this fall weather. Nothing better than the windows open and fresh air coming in.

Our weekend was very low key. Boy went out the family ranch to hunt for a night. After 4 years of marriage the hunting thing still weirds me out a bit since my freeze is filled with taquitos and dove meat right now. It's growing on me though. But I have to hand it to boy because before he heads out he's always polite to ask,

"Would you like to come with me? It'll be fun!!"

Hum? Let me think. Collecting dead doves with smelly guys or watching the season premiere of "Brothers and Sisters"?

Decisions Decisions.

Am I a bad wife that I chose the later?

hey boots!

I'm in year 2 of "The Great Boot Search".

Sigh.

Y'all I need to find me some new boots.

And every time I start my search up again I think of this clip.

Good times...good times.

My problem is I'm not about to drop boocoos on a pair of boots because

a. we want to be able to afford heat this winter.
b. there's about a 99.2% chance of some pug damage that could occur.
c. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!

And bless this chica's heart she consistently thinks of my boot needs and has been so sweet to send me some suggestions. Here are a few that I've found recently.

Top two from dsw.com

This one in tan from VS

These are sold out, but cute from Ruche

Anyone found any cute boots lately?

miscellaneous bin

1. We hosted an impromptu Emmy/Cowboy game party last night. The girls watched the Emmys and the guys the game. Such fun!! Yea for 30 Rock and boo hoo for the Cowboys. Boy is still in mourning over that one.

2. Speaking of the Emmy's...any fans of Mad Men? We rented the 1st disc of Season 1 last month and after about two episodes boy sadly lost interest...should we try again? I really want to see it, but boy thought it was slow. Maybe y'all can convince him.

3. I made pancakes for breakfast...from a box...while pug watched.

4. I found a copy of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" at Half-Price books for $2. I couldn't believe the great deal because everyone has been talking about this book. Then I bring it home and find that someone went through the book with orange highlighter and highlighted all the bad words. I now know why it was $2.

5. How I Met your Mother starts tonight. Hooray for season premieres.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful Monday too!

only the coolest boat ever!

It has been raining non-stop for almost a week now. And it's not just sprinkles here and there it's more like buckets falling from the sky kind of rain.

I'm considering trading in my SUV for a duck boat.

I mentioned a duck boat a few months ago to boy who exclaimed,

"What's a duck boat?"

"What's a duck boat?!?! Are you serious?

And then I gave a full on description of the wonder of a duck boat and it's magical ability to go from highway to water in a matter of moments. Following with my theory that no corny family vacation is complete NO MATTER where you are (Oregon, Arkansas, Desert region) unless you have ridden a duck boat and have a group photo with at least 3 people sporting fanny packs in it as proof of your adventure.

I think his interest is peaked.

And look an assortment of super awesome duck boat tours

We've got San Francisco, San Juan, or how about one in Wisconsin.

Friends you can never underestimate the amount of family fun a duck boat offer.

I'm feeling bad because the point of this blog post wasn't even the duck boat, but this is what happens when you blog at 2 am. So thank you friends for taking your precious time out of your day and humoring me.

some reality talk

Y'all are too funny on the cuban sandwich. I'm more than happy to pass over the recipe, but I should worn it's nothing fancy. Traditionally a cuban sandwich has some shredded pork roast on it, but as you can tell from my previous post picture mine didn't. I cheated because that would require me to actually plan a meal hours before dinner and additional dishes. Just as fabulous without it though.
- A loaf of fresh french bread
- thinly sliced deli ham
- provolone cheese (for boy)
- sandwich slicer pickles- not the hamburger ones
- mustard- i use a honey mustard

Cut up the bread into serving slices, then top with mustard, pickles, ham and cheese. Spray down a skillet with cooking spray and place sandwiches in on medium heat. I then wrap an additional pan in foil, weigh it down with a heavy bowl and place on top of sandwiches. Or if you're fancy and have a panini press use that. Just be sure to smash the sandwich down to half it's original size. Flip until sides are toasted and cheese is melted. See easy peasy!

And hooray for Jordan winning Big Brother! Well, now my Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are free! What next? Boy and I were talking about realtity competition shows and if we'd ever try-out for one. I always wanted to do Big Brother, but only back when they did Peanut Butter & Jelly instead of slop. I'd probably be so homesick I'd cry my way through it. Boy would love to do Big Brother or Wipeout. I wonder if BB would take a fun loving married couple and a pug :-)

What reality competition show would you do? Or better yet have any of y'all tried out for one?

Dearest Pug,

I regret to inform you that your request for a Snuggie Dog has been denied. I know your devastated, but believe me when I tell you you'll have a hard time getting a cute little lady pug walking down the street in that. It's for your own good.

Much love,

a memo to pug #5

To: Pug
From: Upper Management
Date: 9/4/09
RE: Visitor Conduct

Dearest Pug,

I am very well aware that you enjoy having guests stop by the house. New faces, new smells, new people to annoy. I get it. However, this week after you insisted on invading a guest's personal space and staring them down with your bug eyes for a solid two hours I feel we need to review the ground rules for entertaining with you...again.

1. Welcome Committee of One- tone down the girlish shrieks when they walk in the door. We have a door bell for that and no one wants to go deaf before they make it out of the entry way.

2. Communal beverage- when I offer a guest a drink please refrain from sticking your head in their cup. This is not Communion.

3. Snoring Headrest- people don't mind you sitting by them, but try avoid chillaxing on their heads when we sit down on the sofa to chat.

4. Cleaning Crew- our guests have hopefully bathed before coming over, so please discontinue the licking. Generous, but gross.

5. Bathroom Buddies- the guests usually prefer not having a four-legged friend watch them pee, so please stop following them into the bathroom. It's rude.

Hopefully, with these helpful reminders guests will now make a return visit.

With love,
girl

P.S. Any requests for a Halloween costume?

miscellaneous bin

1. I haven't done a miscellaneous post in awhile...so much randomness to share.

2. How is it September already? Although I tend to favor the spring & summer months I am looking forward to pumpkins and having the windows open (once we get out of the 90 degree weather).

3. I've started my Christmas shopping. I like to get a head start so I'm not pulling my hair out in aisle 4 at Target on December 24th. I'm savoring the shopping over the next few months. Anyone have any cute gifts you've seen lately?

4. "The Office" starts in 2 weeks. Oh happy day! What new shows are you looking forward too?

5. And I still have yet to get my contacts in my eyes. Not looking good. Not looking good at all.

What randomness is going on in your life?
